Is Dakota Kai Related To WWE Megastar Roman Reigns? Tracing Her Samoan Roots

Dakota Kai is currently having a great time in WWE. She has been a part of the stable since her return at SummerSlam last year, but not with Roman Reigns. Although the two stars share the same genealogy, they are not related in terms of family.

Dakota Kai and Roman Reigns are not related. Kai is of Samoan descent on his mother’s side, originating from the village of Lepia on the island of Upolu. Besides Samoan, Dakota is also of Irish descent. However, she was born in Auckland, New Zealand. While crows are also of Samoan ancestry, this does not mean that they are related.

Although Kai is not part of the great Anoi family, many consider Dakota to be one of them. At WrestleMania 39, Tamina helped Kai with his gear. Dwayne Johnson also acknowledged The Damage CTRL member’s comments about how The Rock was one of his inspirations growing up.

Kai is currently part of Damage CTRL along with Belle and IYO Skye. She also captured the Women’s Tag Team Championship with The Japanese Star but lost it to Becky Lynch and Lita before WrestleMania.

Did Dakota Kai Feel Any Pressure To Be Samoan In WWE?
It is no secret that apart from the legendary Anoa’i family consisting of Roman Reigns, The Usos, The Rock and others, several Samoan wrestlers have made a name for themselves. There are also players like Zion Quinn and Samoa Joe. Despite the notable names attached to the pedigree, Kai had no problem with it.

During a previous interview with WWE, Dakota Kai was asked if she felt under the pressure of being part of a rich lineage of Samoan stars. She replied that she never felt pressure and has always embraced her culture.

“I never felt any pressure about it. I’ve always embraced being ‘Afkasi’. Mom would make sure we kids grew up with a strong sense of who we were and where we came from ” ” I’ve lived and come here twice in Samoa. My mother’s home is Lepia. She always cooked traditional Samoan dishes for us, and we had regular family get-togethers. Family is a priority in the Samoan community , Which means the support system I have is amazing, Kai said.

It remains to be seen what else is in store for the 34-year-old’s future in WWE, and whether joining The Bloodline is one of them.
